Prosthetics

The dental prosthesis treatment, also known as prosthodontics, primarily aims to enhance the patient’s aesthetic appearance, restore comfort in daily life, and bring back their joy. Prosthodontics is a specialized field of dentistry focused on the restoration of dental functions. Damaged, missing, or poorly shaped teeth can lead to significant health and confidence issues. A beautiful smile is one of the best visual attributes for individuals, and our expert prosthodontists are here to help you achieve this.

Understanding patient expectations and meeting those expectations is crucial in prosthetic treatment. To achieve success in dental prosthesis applications, individual treatment plans for teeth or implants are created based on expertise, the latest diagnostic equipment, and global trends.

Indications for Dental Prosthesis

The indications for dental prostheses are as follows:

  • A single missing tooth
  • Multiple missing teeth
  • Complete tooth loss
  • Unsatisfactory appearance of teeth

Types of Dental Prostheses

Dental prostheses represent a perfect blend of knowledge, experience, technology, and artistry to guarantee the best outcomes. At Esendent, we collaborate with high-quality laboratories that ensure top standards in veneers, crowns, bridges, and dentures.

Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are non-invasive thin shells that give the teeth the desired shape, color, and geometry without requiring surgical procedures. Porcelain veneers offer advantages such as high aesthetic standards and durability. At Esendent, we provide a variety of veneer solutions, including composite, feldspathic, and more.

Crowns

Crowns are a type of permanent prosthetic restoration that covers the surface of a tooth. They help restore the tooth’s ideal shape and color and provide an aesthetic appearance through minor adjustments.

Crowns can be used in the following cases:

  • Teeth that are significantly damaged due to decay
  • Teeth with extensive fillings
  • Fractured or damaged teeth
  • Teeth worn down due to grinding
  • Teeth that have discolored after root canal treatment

Crowns are also an effective solution when the natural core of a tooth cannot be ideally reconstructed with composite materials.

Bridges

Dental bridges provide a permanent prosthetic solution for reconstructing cavities involving up to three teeth. They consist of a block of crowns that fill the gap, supported by adjacent teeth. Bridge preparation requires the reshaping of neighboring teeth, similar to crown procedures.

In line with international standards, in cases where healthy teeth are present next to the gap, the replacement of missing teeth with intraosseous implants and implant-supported prostheses is recommended.

Removable Dentures

Removable dentures are a type of prosthetic restoration used in cases of multiple tooth defects and complete tooth loss. This treatment helps restore lost oral functions.

Applications include:

  • Removable dentures supported by the patient’s own teeth (acrylic, chrome, clasp-retained, flexible, telescopic, and other removable dentures)
  • Complete removable dentures for cases of total tooth loss

It’s important to note that using removable dentures may lead to bone surface loss. As an alternative to traditional dentures, special implant-supported prostheses are recommended. For patients without natural teeth, custom-made, comfortable, and natural-looking prostheses are created after implant placement, preventing bone loss and atrophy.

Types of Dental Prosthesis Materials

Today, patients are interested in dental prostheses not only for functional reasons but also for aesthetic purposes. During the consultation, the doctor presents and explains the possible solutions, leaving the choice of treatment plan to the patient.

In the anterior region, fully ceramic, non-metallic crowns that perfectly mimic the natural appearance of teeth are recommended.

Crowns and bridges made from zirconium oxide offer significant advantages in both durability and aesthetics. They closely resemble natural teeth in color and reflect light similarly. It is worth noting that zirconium oxide is completely biocompatible, meaning it does not cause hypersensitivity that can occur with metal. Due to their aesthetic and natural appearance, they are preferred for both front and posterior teeth restorations.

Zirconium oxide-based full ceramic crowns are an excellent solution for some patients due to their biocompatibility, high aesthetic qualities, and being the most durable of all dental ceramics. They provide an alternative to conventional metal-alloy foundations, even for filling gaps in the posterior sections of the dental arch. Zirconium oxide is used in situations requiring high strength, such as multi-unit bridges.

Prostheses made with the Emax system are a perfect solution for dental veneers, whether for a single crown or the reconstruction of a three-unit bridge. The innovative system guarantees high-strength restorations with an impressive appearance, especially recommended for front teeth.

Emax crowns are made from glass-ceramic reinforced with lithium disilicate. The flexural strength of these crowns is five times greater than that of feldspathic ceramics, averaging around 350 MPa. They are ideal for restoring individual teeth (inlay, onlay, overlay, veneer, prosthetic crown) and short three-unit bridges (excluding molars). Their high strength allows for the use of the thinnest dental veneers.
